Welcome to Lake Chapala Farmers Market!
Located in West Ajijic at Salón La Huerta, every Tuesday since 2010, 9:30 am – 12:30 pm.
March 2021 marked the 11th Anniversary of the Lake Chapala Farmers Market! In celebration we have created a calendar of events that is sure to delight your palate.
On 2020, our 10th anniversary celebrations came to a halt when Covid-19 hit our area. We have been the ONLY farmers market able to remain open every single week in México in spite of the pandemic. This is in part because we have followed the strict Covid-19 protocols* set forth by the government and because we have a very special community here at Lakeside! Something worth celebrating! We have been knitting this community together and we are SO GRATEFUL for your continuous support!
During this past year our mission statements became stronger than ever:
“To provide locally-grown organic produce to our community”.
“To provide high quality nutritional food to our community”.
“To connect local producers directly to consumers”.
Why Lake Chapala Farmers Market?
It’s a celebration of local food culture!
At LCFM you get to know those of us who cultivate and make your food. You can find fresh local produce, artisan food created locally and many regional unique entrepreneurial projects that share our mission and values with a good selection of gluten free, keto, and vegan options.
LCFM offers:
- Fresh Produce & Food: Produce comes directly from nearby farms, so you get food at its peak and prepared food is cooked specifically for our market. Buy directly from organic farmers.
- Less Waste: Buying directly from farmers and producers helps prevent waste in the delivery process and carbon footprint. The fewer people handling the product and the shorter distance it travels, the less likely produce is discarded along the way.
- More Taste: You can get the whole vegetables — carrots and beets with their tops, flavorful greens and juicy tomatoes!
- Real Ingredients: Know your food and how it is made! Products at LCFM do not contain high fructose corn sugar, bleached white sugars, MSG (monosodium glutamate).
- Natural Cosmetics & Herbal Medicine: Paraben Free, chemical free, locally made, infused or distilled.
- Mexican folklore clothing: Artisan and local clothes made by indigenous communities around México, fine textiles and embroider work.
Do you know that ALL the farms and kitchens at our farmers market are carefully reviewed and vetted by our committee to bring the highest quality of food to you? We have a rigorous entry process. See here.
We are non-profit.
